1,000 events.

When I first started volunteering with Columbus Gives Back, I never could have imagined how much this organization would mean to me. The people, the experiences, the difference we make with each event, it all has made my life so much more complete. So to experience meeting a milestone like the 1,000th event with all of you is truly exciting! Every volunteer has been of part of reaching this point, whether you have come to one event or many. We are celebrating you and the community that you have impacted. Our team is putting together a celebration of this milestone in January, so stay tuned for those details!

Some of you may not know how CGB was started, but it has come a long way since it’s beginning in March 2009. Juliana Hardymon founded the organization because she saw the need for a flexible way to volunteer while meeting other young professionals. The first event was posted on Craigslist where 10 volunteers showed up to make a spaghetti dinner for families staying at the Unverferth House. Since then, we have reached so many people and done so many amazing things, and it’s all because of the commitment to service in the Columbus community that we see from all of our volunteers. It just goes to show how one small idea can lead to something extraordinary!

We have some great events coming up this month, including our philanthropic happy hour on December 12th at Woodlands Tavern where there will be raffles, giveaways, free pizza courtesy of Pies & Pints Short North, and lots of holiday cheer! I also want to invite you to dine with us at Chipotle (1298 West 5th Avenue) on December 11th from 4-8PM. Chipotle will generously be donating 50% of sales to Columbus Gives Back, so it will be a great way for you to support our organization while eating some delicious food. Make sure to mention CGB when you checkout!

I hope to see you at an event this holiday season, so we can start working towards the next 1,000 events together!
