My CGB Story
I started volunteering with Columbus Gives Back as a way to feel more connected to the community around me, and meet people I might not otherwise have a chance to meet. CGB is a great vehicle to achieve both of those goals. It might sound cliché, but it’s true: volunteering with CGB has been and continues to be one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’d recommend CGB to anyone who wants to make a difference in a variety of ways with his or her free time.
My favorite CGB event: The Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I watched Captain Planet cartoons as a kid, so I’m drawn to keeping things out of landfills as an adult. Plus, you never know what sorts of projects they’ll have us working on. It’s a different experience each time we volunteer there.
My hidden talent is…my ability to improvise. As a kid, I used to make up stories on the fly based on suggestions from my audience. This talent is “hidden” today because as I got older, my ability to craft words into complete sentences became less impressive to large groups of people, but I still enjoy doing it.
