Columbus Gives Back invites you to join Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) for one of the coolest community projects you can find. After a spectacular experience painting in Wedgewood Middle School, Eakin Elementary, and Columbus Global Academy, CRIS will work with staff and students from Gables and volunteers like you to transform their cafeteria with a beautiful alligator-themed mural (a baby alligator is their mascot) designed with input from the students themselves to help make the school feel like their own.
*** Disclaimer: You do not need to be an artist to volunteer! ***
What: Painting a mural for Gables Elementary!
Where: Gables Elementary, 1680 Beckett Ave. Columbus, OH 43235
When: Saturday, March 16th, 2018 (10am – 4pm)
Event Leaders: firstname.lastname@example.org
What to Bring: Please wear clothing you do not mind getting some paint on. The prep work will almost entirely be complete, so all you will really have to do is paint in the lines. If volunteers could bring some medium/ small acrylic brushes, that would be wonderful! We always welcome chips, juice boxes, pretzels, water for the kids and volunteers. This is a very large Muslim population so we just advice against fruit snacks as they have gelatin in them.
About CRIS: Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS) is an independent non-profit organization and refugee resettlement agency that resettles individuals and families from all over the world and serves the growing refugee and immigrant populations in Central Ohio with a tremendous amount of programs.
#SocialTwist: After the event, we encourage you to join us for food or drinks and have fun with other cool volunteers like you!
