Assist Local Matters food educators as they lead hands-on classes, cooking demonstrations, and growing activities with youth and their families. These activities prove that positive food choices are not only important, but fun and delicious as well. As a volunteer, you will assist the food education team as they engage the state fair audience in different food and growing related activities every day the the fair will be open. You can expect to assist in making salsa, tasting seasonal produce, making seed pods, talking about the benefits of choosing whole grains and much more.
Our goal is to convince families to take a brief break from the heat and fried snacks to reFUEL their fun with a delicious snack in the Local Matters section of the Launch Youth Center!
Local Matters will be at the fair every day it is happening (7/25-8/5). Columbus Gives Back will cover the Sunday 8/5 shift from 12:30p-3:30p. Local Matters will take care of admission to the fair for volunteers!

About Local Matters: Local Matters does a ton of work in central Ohio to promote food education and access. We love Local Matters and their efforts to bridge the gaps between nutrition and health care, advocating for sustainable food systems, increasing access, and helping people cook healthy meals!
About #CbusGivesBack: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals.
