Join Columbus Gives Back to help the Friends of Goodale Park on for their end-of-year “put the beds to bed” park work days! Volunteers will help weed and edge garden beds, mulch, trim branches, sweep tennis courts, pick up litter, and much more! Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, and if you have extra garden tools (hand trowels, shovels) that we can use on Saturday, please bring them!
When: Saturday, November 10, 2018 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Event Leaders: email@example.com
Where: Goodale Park, 120 Goodale Park, Columbus, OH 43215
Wear: Warm, comfortable clothes that you are OK with getting a little bit dirty. Gardening tools will be provided, but you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring any tools that you think might be helpful.
Arrival & Parking There is a small lot on Dennison (near the corner of Dennison and Poplar) on the west side of the park. All volunteers will check in at the shelter house, located at the center of the park, where our event leaders from Columbus Gives Back will be there to meet you. We will be with other volunteers from Friends of Goodale Park.
About Friends of Goodale Park: The Friends of Goodale Park formed in 1987 in realization that the surrounding community needed to take greater responsibility to nurture and support Goodale Park. A devastating summer storm had destroyed many of the park’s older trees so the Friends raised funds to purchase over 300 trees. In subsequent years, the Friends have undertaken many projects to restore, improve and maintain this gem of an urban park. Lighting, benches and trash receptacles have been added; a gazebo and expanded shelter house have been constructed; sidewalks and playgrounds have been updated, and more trees have been planted.
About Columbus Gives Back: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals.
Cancellation Policy: Due to the nature of our events, an accurate headcount is important. Please contact one of the event coordinators if you have RSVP’ed but are unable to attend this event.
