About the Chilly Open: The Chilly Open is an annual wintertime fundraising event, organized and run by the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club to raise money and increase awareness for children’s charities in Central Ohio. The event, which began in 1997, takes place each year on the first Saturday in February at The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and is hosted by Woody Johnson of 92.3 WCOL. This family-oriented event has helped raise over $3 million for area children’s charities such as The Children’s Hunger Alliance, Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, W.A.R.M., The Buckeye Ranch, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and the Ubumwe Community Center in Rwanda, Africa. The Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club organizes and runs the event, so 100% of the proceeds go directly to these charities.
About #CbusGivesBack: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals.
#Socialtwist: We will hang out around the zoo or have dinner/drinks somewhere to celebrate our volunteering!
Cancellation Policy: Due to the nature of our events, an accurate headcount is important. Please contact one of the event coordinators if you have RSVP’ed but are unable to attend this event.
