Columbus Gives Back is looking for cool people like you to volunteer with us and Directions for Youth & Families (DFYF) to help with preparations for their 30th annual State of the Child Luncheon! This is their signature event where we come together as a community to recognize “the state of the child” in central Ohio. The luncheon is one-of-a-kind unique because of the music and dance performances enthusiastically presented by youth in the DFYF after-school programs. In addition, some of their treatment clients and families share their stories about the impact of DFYF services.
What: As is their legacy, DFYF will be gifting guests of the luncheon with a glazed ornament and will have some special items for sale just in time for Mother’s Day. Volunteer projects include: glazing ornaments / low skill painting, tagging ornaments with information, and planting succulents.
When: Wednesday, May 1st from 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Volunteers needed: 8
Event Leaders: firstname.lastname@example.org
Where: Ohio Avenue Youth Center, 657 S. Ohio Avenue, Columbus, OH 43205
About DFYF: Directions for Youth & Families impacts over 5,500 youth and their families each year through mental, emotional and behavioral health services. We are a resiliency-oriented, trauma-informed agency working and training with experts and educators. Through counseling, education and support programs we are proud of the impact we have in contributing to a healthy community – one individual, one family at a time.
About #CbusGivesBack: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals.
Cancellation Policy: Due to the nature of our events, an accurate headcount is important. Please contact one of the event coordinators if you have RSVP’ed but are unable to attend this event.
